As long as the status of a user is "Inactive", you can change the email address in the employee profile.

NOTE: Via "Repeat invitation" at the end of the employee profile, you should send a new invitation email to the new address.

Once the status of the employee is "Active" or "Active (Pending)", the email field in the employee profile is grayed out and cannot be changed. In this case, only the employee can change the email address in his/her own profile.
